CHICAGO (CBS) – Chicago Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration and other agencies announced a major drug bust this afternoon, WBBM’s Terry Keshner.
Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy says the investigation lasted several months and reached over into Wisconsin and Indiana and led to charges against 23 people.
“Federal charges were filed today against nearly two-dozen individuals engaging in narcotics activity in three separate narcotics markets across the City of Chicago,” said McCarthy.
Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy says police have recovered nearly a dozen guns, cash and drugs.
“One of the things this investigation will show and the strike force will show is we’re willing to do whatever we got to do in the region to affect trafficking organizations that really affect Chicago,” said DEA Special Agent Jack Riley.
Police say the investigation targeted drug distributors, not users.
