SKOKIE, Ill. (STMW) – Heroin, crack cocaine and other suspected narcotics were seized and two people arrested when north suburban police raided a home on Chicago’s North Side, and a third person was arrested for trying to enter the home during the search.
On Friday, Evanston police executed a search warrant in the 7600 block of North Bosworth in Chicago and seized more than $500 in cash, 23 bags of a brown powder suspected to be heroin, and seven bags of a white rock-like substance believed to be crack, according to a release from Evanston police.
Also seized were about 20 pills believed to be controlled substances, some used to cut heroin, along with drug packaging materials.
Issac Jerome Roach, 26, and Ebony Nicole Sanders, 24, both of the Bosworth address, were charged with five counts each of possession of a controlled Substance, and one count of possession with intent to deliver, the release said.
After police had secured the residence and were executing the warrant, another man attempted to enter the apartment, and when officers prevented his access, he refused to leave and attempted to punch an officer with his fist,the release said.
Thomas Eugene Sanders, 20, of the 7700 block of North Paulina in Chicago was charged with aggravated assault to a peace officer and resisting, the release said.
In July, the Evanston police Gang and Narcotic Investigation Unit got a tip that drugs were being trafficked from a home just over the Evanston-Chicago border and sold in the suburb. An investigation resulted in a search warrant being approved for the apartment.
Roach, who is being held on $60,000 bond, and Sanders will next appear in court on Sept. 9 in Skokie. Sanders is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 13.
