CHICAGO (STMW) – Prosecutors said police found 79 kilograms of cocaine with a street value of about $10 million in the home of a McKinley Park man after they arrested him Friday night.
Jose Pelayo Aguilar, 21, of the 3600 block of S. Leavitt, faces charges of manufacturing, delivering and possessing cocaine after police said he admitted he had Patricia Sugey deliver one kilogram of cocaine to Roger Zeni in the 2600 block of W. 36th.
Chicago police confirmed Sugey and Zeni also face drug possession charges.
Police took Aguilar into custody and executed a search warrant at his home, according to court records. They said they found 79 kilograms of what they suspected was cocaine along with $539,406.
Cook County Judge Israel Desierto ordered Aguilar held in lieu of $75,000 bail and granted a request from prosecutors to have a hearing to determine the source of his money if he tries to make bond.
Joseph Lopez, Aguilar’s defense attorney, said his client had nothing to do with the cocaine and was caught in the middle of a drug deal.
